Group Head of Sustainability

 

Sustainable development is a strategic imperative for our business. The group’s Sustainable Development Office (SDO) led by the Group Head of Sustainability, advises senior management of key developments and emerging risks related to sustainable development (SD), and is responsible for setting environmental policies and targets, monitoring the implementation of our group strategy, SwireTHRIVE, and our ESG policies, and for communication on ESG matters.

Responsibilities:

 

•    Leads the design, execution and performance monitoring of global corporate strategy for sustainability for the Swire Group
•    Act as lead change agent to drive improved sustainability performance and best practices, with a view to embed sustainability into overall business strategy for Swire
•    Oversee operating companies’ compliance and support, data management, design of action plans, management of key projects and activities
•    Formulate, advise on, and manage relevant group level policies on all sustainability matters related to material environmental issues (CO2, water, waste, biodiversity, materials etc.)
•    Lead responsibility for the production of annual Swire Pacific SD report, key sustainability indices, production of Board reports, and investor engagement with ESG analysts and Funds
•    Responsible for the promotion, uptake, and successful execution of internal SD Funds 
•    Provide high level advice and counsel to senior management on key sustainability issues
•    Lead internal and external communications to promote sustainability across the group
•    Head up the Sustainable Development Office, and manage departmental budget to ensure sustainability is driven appropriately and results attained
 

Requirements:

 

•    Bachelor's degree preferably in life sciences, social sciences, environmental management, or related discipline
•    15 - 20 years of experience in a corporate or commercial sustainability leadership role. Experience of sectors within which Swire operates is highly desirable
•    Proven record in risk management set against wider societal and environment problems, with first-hand experience of practical solutions 
•    Sound knowledge of current and future policies, trends, technology and information impacting sectors which Swire operates
•    Strong interpersonal and networking skills, and be comfortable in influencing and engaging with all levels of the business
•    Good command of both written and spoken English. Proficiency in spoken Cantonese and/or Putonghua is desirable
