John Swire & Sons (H.K.) Limited is the holding company of the publicly-listed conglomerate, Swire Pacific Ltd. Our Swire Archives Department is now inviting candidates to apply for the following position:


Archive Assistant



  • Support the Swire Archives collections management programme, including accessioning and cataloguing of archives in line with international standards
  • Support the location management system, and access and retrieval systems
  • Undertake preservation tasks including preservation rehousing, and basic conservation for the archive collections 
  • Engage in digitization and scanning of archives
  • Conduct historical research in the archive collections
  • Respond to enquirers and users internally and externally
  • Supervise and facilitate onsite users in conducting research in archives
  • Occasionally support Swire Archives outreach, communication and promotion of its services



  • Bachelor’s degree holder, with at least 1-2 years’ relevant experience in archives or other related fields
  • Post-graduate qualification in Archives & Records Management would be an advantage
  • Experience of historical research using archives 
  • Experience in cataloguing and description and using collections management software 
  • Prepared to occasionally lift and move heavy boxes
  • Proficient command of verbal and written Chinese and English, proficiency in Putonghua is preferred
