About Our Department and Our Role

 

Join us at John Swire & Sons - Beijing Office within the People department where we are dedicated to working in close partnership with our various businesses at our Head Office on people-related matters. As an HR Manager at John Swire & Sons, we are looking for an individual contributor who can provide comprehensive support to our Head Office employees from a people perspective. This role will support the employee life cycle of stakeholders whilst focusing on people-orientated approaches.

 

In this role, you will focus on resource planning, performance and talent management, and employee engagement. As a partner to our various Heads of Departments and line managers, you will ensure that our HR initiatives and processes align with our business objectives, enhance the employee experience, and drive our organisational success. Job Responsibilities: 

 

To be successful as an HR Manager, you should have experience with the following:

 

  • Employer Branding & Recruitment Marketing: Partner with the programme and experienced hire recruitment team to develop and execute an aligned and comprehensive employer branding and employer value proposition strategy to strengthen the Swire Group’s brand and attract top talents. Create and manage recruitment marketing campaigns across various platforms, including social media, to engage potential candidates. Build strong relationships with universities and external organizations to promote company programs and internships.
  • Recruitment & Talent Acquisition: Partner with hiring managers to define recruitment strategies and ensure timely, high-quality hires. Partner with the programme recruitment team for the Swire Management, Finance and Internship programme marketing, interviews, and drive recruitment initiatives. Review current processes to design and implement an enhanced and seamless recruitment process for experienced hire recruitment. Design and execute career events, open days, etc., to support Swire Programme and HR events.
  • Learning & Development: Partner with senior management to identify learning and development needs for employees at all levels. Provide feedback on training needs in Mainland China and actively cooperate with the L&D department to provide support and assistance for training in Mainland China. Oversee the development and delivery of mandatory and developmental training, including digital learning platforms and in-person sessions.
  • Employee Engagement & Performance Management: Develop and implement initiatives to enhance employee engagement and performance. Address employee relations issues proactively and ensure fair and consistent application of policies and practices. Monitor employee engagement, identify areas for improvement, and work with the leadership team to enhance the employee experience. Work with the Head of HR to manage the performance management cycle, including goal setting, performance reviews, and feedback processes. Monitor feedback from employees and managers, and maintain the performance management system as necessary.
  • Employee Experience Enhancement: Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., HR operations, recruitment, learning & development) to identify opportunities for process optimization, automation, and innovation. Work closely with HRBP to align HR processes with the company's employee engagement and retention strategies, making sure employees feel valued and supported at every touchpoint. Create, maintain, and update comprehensive process documentation for all core HR functions, ensuring clear, consistent, and standardized procedures across the organization. Develop step-by-step guidelines, checklists, and visual process maps to help HR team members and employees easily navigate HR processes and workflows.
  • HR Projects & Strategic Initiatives: Support and lead HR projects and initiatives that align with the business strategy and promote organizational development. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive organizational change and continuous improvement in HR practices.

 

To be successful in this role, you must have:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in human resources or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of HR experience with a focus on recruitment, employee development & engagement, and performance management.
  • Proven experience in designing and implementing leadership development programs, recruitment, employee engagement, and performance management.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Good presentation skills in Mandarin and English.
  • Proficient in HR systems and MS Office applications.
